ChSY Started Construction of a Sea Tug for Latvian PLK Flote Company

Nikolaev, 30 October – Chernomorsky Shipbuilding Yard (ChSY, Nikolaev City, Ukraine) has commenced a construction of a sea tug for АS PKL Flote Company (Latvia)

The new multi-purpose sea tug is being built under a contract signed between ChSY and АS PKL Flote on July 2, 2012. This is a vessel with upgraded design meant for towing of non-self-propelled vessels and self-floating structures, vessel piloting in water area of the ports, escorting operations in the Baltic Sea, fighting of fire on vessels, as well as for ice breaking.

‘This order continues our cooperation with the partner, АS PKL Flote Company. I am sure that in the foreseeable future the scope of this cooperation between our companies will expand significantly. I warrant that the order of the new, advanced tug is a worthy quality assessment of the Chernomorsky Yard’s products by our partners,’ underlined Valeriy Kalashnikov, the general director of Chernomorsky Shipbuilding Yard in his report.

According to the conditions of the contract, ChSY will build fully fitted out tug in line with the rules of the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping. The time of the ship’s handover is the second half of 2013.

PJSC Chernomorsky Shipbuilding Yard is a shipyard with the largest technical potential in Ukraine. The plant has two inclined staples (‘0’ and ‘1’) for construction of ships and vessels with deadweight of up to 105,000 tonnes. Flow-line and positional production system is designed for a serial production of vessels with deadweight of up to 9,000 tonnes. Vessel production sites and construction flow lines are located in one covered building about 400 m long. PJSC ChSY is part of Smart Maritime Group shipbuilding holding (Ukraine).

Smart Maritime Group (SMG) is the largest shipbuilding holding of Ukraine. It was established in 2009 to manage marine sector assets of Smart Holding. SMG integrates two largest shipbuilding companies of Ukraine, Chernomorsky Shipbuilding Yard and Kherson Shipyard.

Main characteristics of G07ВL project

G07ВL project of the multi-purpose sea tug was developed by the design and engineering center of Chernomorsky Shipbuilding Yard in accordance with the international rules applied to vessels of the type. The propulsion system of the tug provides propulsive force of about 65 t on moorings and consists of two main engines with auxiliary mechanisms, two turning rudder-propeller columns with adjustable pitch control propeller. The vessel has additionally reinforced hull to work in the ice.

Speed: up to 12.5 knots forward running and up to 10 knots backward running;

Midships depth: 5.633 m.;

Maximum water draught: 4.92 m.
