President of Ukraine Visited Vin-Pellet Fuel Pellet Plant

The President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych and the government representatives visited Vin-Pellet fuel pellet plant as a part of their visit to Vinnitsa region on 16 April.

Alexey Tymofeyev, the CEO of Smart Energy, explained the delegation members the fuel pellet production technology. The company is planning to build 20 similar plants throughout Ukraine with the total production capacity of 3 million tonnes of straw and wooden pellets a year.

‘Our plant collaborates with the agricultural manufacturers of seven districts in the region, and the region’s overall raw material base amounts to 3 million tonnes of straw – one tonne of the plant’s produce can replace 455 m3 of natural gas. That said, we deal with eco-friendly fuel here,’ said Alexey Tymofeyev.

According to the President’s press service, following the visit to the plant, the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych instructed the Vice Prime Minister Olexandr Vilkul to develop the complex program for efficient energy consumption in public utilities and in production sector. The President gave the respective order after he visited Vin-Pellet fuel pellet plant in Vinnitsa region.

Vin-Pellet (limited liability company) was established in 2009. The company’s main business focus is biofuel production in Ukraine. By 2020, the company plans to build and commission 20 plants with the total capacity of more than 2.5-3 million tonnes of finished product a year, which is equivalent to 1.5 billion m3 of natural gas.

The plant in Turbov settlement will be built and fitted out with the manufacturing equipment in two stages. The first stage was launched in late 2010, the trial startups of the first production line were performed in October 2012. The second stage is planned to be completed in 2014.
