Smart Maritime Group Increased Its 2016 Production Level by 49% – to UAH 395 Million

In 2016, Smart Maritime Group (SMG, Kherson) increased its marketable product sales revenue by 49% compared with 2015 – up to UAH 395 million.

In 2016, Kherson shipyard built and delivered to the customer, Yuzhniy branch of the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority, a multi-purpose oil garbage disposal vessel SEA ANT of NM 440 design. The oil skimmer is a unique vessel that does not have equals among similar class vessels operating in the ports of Ukraine. Along with its main function, the vessel can operate as a boom-laying boat, a tugboat, a supply vessel and a fire-fighting vessel.

In the course of 2016, forty-six vessels were renovated and upgraded on SMG's stocks, including Nikolaev border patrol ship of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

SMG continues to develop its machine building (mechanical engineering) and metal processing capabilities. In the course of 2016, contracts for a total of UAH 9 million were executed on the basis of the Company’s machine building facilities. The key customers include Metinvest Group, Yugcement company and others.

The amount of taxes and fees paid by the Company to budgets of all levels for 2016 was UAH 74 million, including UAH 23 million paid to local budgets. The average salary in the Company in December 2016 amounted to UAH 6,173, and the average wage of basic profession workers (welders and assemblers) – UAH 7,000.

"Despite a challenging domestic situation and ambiguous attitude of foreign customers to Ukraine, we have managed to survive and to find orders. Today we are discussing a number of new promising contracts in the field of shipbuilding with our potential customers. We hope that 2017 will bring us stability and improvements for the industry," Vasiliy Fedin, the CEO of Smart Maritime Group, commented on the year's results.
