Vadym Novynskyi's Charitable Foundation Bought 100,000 Coronavirus PCR Tests for Ukrainian Hospitals

30.03.2020

Vadym Novynskyi's Charitable Foundation has purchased in South Korea and delivered to Ukraine 100,000 DialPlexQ™ ️PCR testing systems for the diagnosis of coronavirus in laboratory conditions.

In the coming days, the testing systems will be handed over to Ukrvaktsyna state enterprise and will be distributed countrywide to specialized infectious diseases laboratories that have the necessary conditions for storage and handling of such reagents.

This was reported by Yevgeniy Zagorulko, a representative of Vadym Novynskyi's Charitable Foundation in Honour of the Intercession of the Most Holy Mother of God. He also explained that the purchased set of the testing systems contains all the necessary components for the most accurate method of detecting coronavirus - PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction). That is why there is no need for additional reagents. The testing time takes from 105 to 120 minutes. It may vary depending on the laboratory, its equipment and personnel.

Vadym Novynskyi's Charitable Foundation in Honour of the Intercession of the Most Holy Mother of God fully covered the cost of the purchase and delivery of the tests. The total financing amounted to more than USD 1.5 million. The delivery was organized at the initiative of the Office of the President of Ukraine with the assistance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. The Foundation expresses its gratitude to the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Korea, Mr. Oleksandr Gorin. As stressed by representatives of the Foundation, the purchased PCR tests are absolutely free for Ukrainians. They are the charitable help and are not for sale.

‘In this difficult time for the country, we must joint our efforts and each of us, some less and some more, must contribute to the fight against coronavirus. Both a minister and a simple worker must work together to overcome this pandemic, and then its consequences. Today we have delivered the tests, and I think the country needs at least 500-600 thousand of such tests. They are highly accurate and show the result with a probability of 99%. Now we are waiting for a list of laboratories throughout the country where these tests will be redirected. We hope that this small contribution will help our doctors identify infected patients, promptly provide them with treatment, and take other measures to prevent further spread of coronavirus. Only the consolidated efforts of the government, central and local authorities, businesses, both small and large-scale, and consolidation of society will help overcome the epidemic,' said MP Vadym Novynskyi.

As previously reported, earlier Vadym Novynskyi's Foundation purchased 10 highly efficient lung ventilators, 850 sets of personal protective equipment for medical staff and 10,000 rapid tests in China. The equipment and the tests are now being distributed to specialized healthcare facilities in the regions. This Sunday, thousands of high-class protective suits and respirators for medical personnel, purchased by the Foundation, arrived from China with the second aircraft. They have been distributed to Donetsk, Kherson, Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhya, Dnipropetrovsk and Kharkiv regions.
