SMG Redesigned ATLAS1 Crane Vessel

Specialists of Kherson shipyard of Smart Maritime Group have redesigned ATLAS1 crane vessel. It has now become self-propelled and will be able to move on its own at cargo transhipment points, to moor to large-capacity vessels and return to the port of refuge.

During the redesign process, Schottel SRP150FP steerable rudder propellers with 350 kW electric propulsion motors and other equipment were installed on the vessel. A new all-round view rudder house was installed on the roof of the aft cabin. On the port side of the vessel, a duty/rescue boat’s launching and lifting gear and a rescue boat on a cradle were installed.

The value of the contract amounted to over UAH 8 million.

As part of the redesign process, more than 200 meters of new pipelines were installed and about 11 kilometres of new cable lines will be laid.

On 3 May, the vessel was successfully launched through the launching dock of Kherson shipyard of SMG.

During the completion of the construction works, insulation and cladding of new shipboard spaces will be carried out, as well as painting of all surfaces of the vessel.

After the completion of electrical equipment installation and outfitting, the upgraded crane vessel will be immediately put into operation. It is being awaited in the roads and in the ports of Ukraine.

ATLAS1 vessel is designed for loading and unloading operations in grab and hook modes in ports and on open roads.

The key dimensions of the vessel are:

length overall – 48.60 m

extreme breadth – 21.00 m

hull height/depth – 4.40 m
