Vadym Novynskyi's Foundation Allocated Over UAH 246 Million to Charity Projects in 2020

The International Charitable Foundation in Honour of Intercession of the Most Holy Mother of God (ICF) provided more than UAH 246 million for humanitarian and charity projects in 2020.

Last year, the Foundation focused its major efforts on overcoming the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic in Ukraine. Along with this activity area, the Foundation continued providing its financial support to a series of charitable projects in the field of healthcare, protection of motherhood, childhood, family and restoration of historical and cultural heritage.

As part of the fight against the epidemic, the Foundation and the businesses of Smart-Holding donated over UAH 100 million for the purchase of special medical equipment and personal protective gear for doctors.

‘Thanks to the well-coordinated actions of the Foundation's professional staff and the Group's businesses, most sought-after lung ventilators, personal protective equipment for medical staff and citizens, rapid tests and testing systems were promptly delivered to Ukraine. Jointly with the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC), all this was donated, literally "from the wheels", to specialized regional healthcare facilities without delays,’ said the Head of the Foundation's Supervisory Board, the CEO of Smart-Holding Alexey Pertin.

In addition, UAH 2.6 million were allocated for the families of 26 doctors who died from the COVID-19 disease (each family received financial support worth UAH 100,000). These payments will continue.

In the regions of their presence, the Foundation, jointly with the businesses of Smart-Holding, also organized targeted delivery of 15,000 food packages to war veterans and other vulnerable categories of citizens. The campaign covered Kherson, Mykolaiv, Mariupol, Odesa, as well as Kyiv and Kyiv region.

Today, the Foundation continues its activities in this area, and operating on-call provides the necessary assistance to healthcare facilities.

The 2020 budget of Vadym Novynskyi's Charitable Foundation to support special charitable programs in the healthcare sector was over UAH 13 million. In particular, the construction of a modern hybrid operating room at the Heart Institute of the Ministry of Health, to a total cost of UAH 11.8 million, was completed. In addition, equipment for cycloergometric tests worth more than UAH 1.5 million was purchased for the same healthcare facility. The above tests help to determine latent heart failure.

The program for the rehabilitation of children and young people diagnosed with cerebral palsy and organic lesions of the central nervous system, implemented on the basis of the Kozyavkin International Rehabilitation Clinic, was funded in the total amount of UAH 2.4 million. Over 150 children and adults diagnosed with cerebral palsy underwent rehabilitation courses.

Since June last year, the Foundation began cooperation with Mama and Nemovlya (Mother and Baby) charity foundation providing health treatment for orphans, mainly new-borns with severe pathologies. During this period, thanks to the Foundation's efficient assistance, 30 children went through the most complex surgical operations. The project’s budget amounted to UAH 910,000.

As part of the Cultural Heritage target program, the traditional efforts on the revival and maintenance of domestic cultural and Orthodox monuments and landmarks continued in 2020. More than UAH 76 million were allocated for the main project – the reconstruction of the Holy Trinity Church with a cultural and educational centre on Troyitska Square in Kyiv. In general, with the Foundation’s support, construction, repair, painting and restoration are currently being carried out in more than 50 churches and religious facilities in Ukraine.

Since last summer, the Foundation has been involved in financing the construction, in particular the purchase of equipment, for the healthcare centre at the Holy Ascension Banchensky Monastery. Since August, purchases to a total of UAH 15.1 million have been financed. The Foundation continues to support the orphanage at the monastery, where more than 400 orphans live and are being raised. The amount of financing for these needs stands at UAH 4.2 million.

In addition, within the framework of this target program, the Foundation donated computer and sound equipment to the national museum-reserve “The Battle for Kyiv in 1943” in total worth UAH 315,000.
