Metinvest pays UAH20.5 billion in taxes to Ukraine in 2022

Metinvest continues to provide unwavering economic support to Ukraine despite the Russian full-scale invasion. In 2022, the Group paid UAH20.5 billion in taxes and fees to budgets of all levels in the country, including payments made by associated companies and joint ventures.

The three largest components of Metinvest’s payments to the Ukrainian tax authorities were income tax (UAH6.6 billion), singe social tax (more than UAH4 billion) and personal income tax (UAH3.7 billion).

Amid the war last year, Metinvest’s Ukrainian enterprises increased their payments for subsoil use by 10% year-on-year to UAH3.2 billion and their payments for land by 28% to UAH1.1 billion.

Another significant contributor to state and local budgets of Ukraine in 2022 was environmental tax, which amounted to more than UAH600 million.

Commenting on the news, Yuriy Ryzhenkov, CEO of Metinvest said:

“Last year was very difficult for Ukraine and every Ukrainian, and the business community was no exception. Metinvest’s enterprises in Ukraine are operating under the constant threat of enemy shelling and energy shortages. We had to restructure our operations to adapt to a rapidly changing situation, including the loss of control over the Mariupol mills and logistical constraints. However, the Group remains one of the country’s largest taxpayers and is one of the largest private sponsors of the Ukrainian army. We will continue to serve as a reliable pillar for the country – before and after Ukraine’s victory over the enemy.”
