Sergei Glazunov, who earlier was holding the position of an Independent Director of the company since February 2012, and later the position of the Financial Director since November 2014, is now appointed as Chief Executive Officer of Regal Petroleum plc. 
Evgeniy Palyenka is appointed as the Financial Director of Regal Petroleum plc. Mr Palyenka joined the company's executive team as an advisor in August 2016.

The daily production of hydrocarbons by Smart Energy Group increased by 20% in the first half of 2017 – from 3,963 boe (barrels of oil equivalent) per day at the end of December 2016 to 4,769 boe per day at the end of June 2017.

In 2017, Smart Energy plans to invest more than UAH 500 million in the Group’s development. The planned production level is about 220 million cubic meters of Ukrainian gas (against 208.4 million cubic meters in 2016). This was reported to journalists by Sergei Glazunov, CEO of Smart Energy Group.

Smart Energy Group has become an official partner of the Men's European Boxing Championships (EUBC) that will be held on 16-24 June 2017 in Kharkov. Almost 300 sportsmen from 40 countries will take part in the contests.

In 2016, companies of SMART ENERGY Group allocated UAH 3.546 million for the development of social infrastructure in the regions where they operate. In particular, social projects amounting to UAH 1.68 million were implemented in Poltava region, to UAH 1.63 million in Kharkiv region and to UAH 165 thousand in Vinnitsa region. The companies also supported several nation-wide projects.

In 2016, companies of SMART ENERGY Group produced 208.4 million cubic meters of gas, 16.8 thousand tonnes of condensate and 3.7 thousand tonnes of liquefied gas from hydrocarbons of own production. In the current economic and political situation, the Group was able to keep its production figures at the level of 2015 (203.9 million cubic meters of gas, 17.55 thousand tonnes of condensate and 3.95 thousand tonnes of liquefied gas).
